My name is Tina Bassett. I have taught 1st, 2nd,
and 3rd grade. I was always interested in the Reading Recovery program, so when
Dekalb Central opted to have teachers trained in it, I was pleased to get the
chance to participate. I taught Reading Recovery until it was phased out and
then I taught the different reading interventions we have implemented at
certainly love working with children in 2nd grade. They are eager to learn and
have such enthusiasm for the things we do. It is very rewarding to see them
grow into independent readers, thinkers, and problem solvers. Each day in 2nd
grade is special----I am wild about 2nd grade students!
Hello! I’m Ms. DeLucenay, and I teach
2nd grade here at J.R. Watson Elementary.
My Elementary Education degree is from IPFW. I love teaching
2nd graders because they are “little sponges.” They are
excited and eager to learn everything. Children in my class soon discover that I
love reading. It brings me great joy each year to pass on that love of reading
and to see students take the jump from learning to decode words to
really reading books for meaning and enjoyment. It is exciting to see
students discover that you can open a book and go anywhere!
I'm Mrs. Quaintance and I teach second grade at James R. Watson Elementary. I received both my Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education through IPFW. I have taught third grade, fourth grade, students with language disorders, and special education. Although I have loved each area, second graders are my favorite!! They are so eager to learn and excited about the world around them. I love how naturally helpful and accepting they are toward others. They make my job so much fun!
Hi, I'm Mrs. Buttermore! I went to college at
Butler University and graduated with an Elementary Bachelor's Degree, with a
minor in reading. I started out as a developmental reading teacher, before
moving into the regular classroom. I absolutely love teaching 2nd graders
because of their excitement and enthusiasm to learn each day. My favorite part
of teaching is having children learn and apply what they've learned to their
real-life experiences. I love the smiles and the willingness to learn!
