Spell Bowl is an academic club for students in 4th-5th grade who excel in spelling and enjoy spelling challenging words. Students are invited to be a participant in Spell Bowl based on a variety of factors which may include: teacher recommendation, scores on a short pretest, NWEA or ILEARN scores, or being identified as high ability. Spell Bowl meets once a week from 2:30-3:30 beginning at the end of August through the middle of November. The club practices a long list of words (approximately 750) for the district competition in November where we compete with other elementary schools. We strive to make this after-school club fun while trying to learn an extensive list of challenging words.
